Girls Weekend.

(Sarah and I during one of our girls weekends in 2010 in Jacksonville)

About a month ago, after a particularly weird couple of days I was hashing through the deets with my friend, Sarah, from Purdue who has also relocated to Florida (she's in Jax) and we decided we were long overdue for a girls weekend away. And so, I bring to you Girls Weekend 2011 in....

Saint Augustine, Florida. (cred)

For those of you who haven't been to St. A before - it's similar to Charleston, SC or Savannah, GA but the Florida version, naturally. It's historic, quaint, full of fun stores, neat museums, beautiful beaches, and a million places you can walk too. I love it there but haven't been in a few years and so I pitched the idea to Sarah of making a girl's trip of a weekend there.

Since she was totally on board with it my mind has been running wild with ideas of where I want to go, what I want to do, what we absolutely have to see (when did I become such an overacheiving tourist?). I've already pitched the ideas of horseback riding on the beach, ziplining through the alligator farm, riding on a pirate ship, and attending a murder mystery dinner theatre. So we'll see just what adventures we land on.

Looking forward to time with a special, fun-lovin friend, away from Tampa but still full of sunshine and summertime TLC.

Eeeee!

Love,

Action.

Today's prompt: when it comes to aspirations, it's not about ideas. It's about making ideas happen. What's your next step? - Scott Belsky, Reverb10.

Ack, I have to take more action? Man, I feel like 2010 has been all about action. I've been working towards my goals at a crazy pace and there's a big part of me that would like to coast at least for a month or so before I tackle anything new. Is that wrong?

Alas, no rest for the weary. I will try'n relax a bit while thinking through my goals for 2011. That's how I plan to use my time while at my parents home in Indiana over Christmas. But come January 2nd when I return to Tampa, I will hit the ground running.

When I was home last, I went on a lunch date with my Dad and laid out my 5 year plan with him. As mentioned in a recent previous entry, my Dad is the one I go to for advice on practically everything. He's also great at helping me keep my plans. He pushes me but he also guides me and gives me a leg up when I need it.

I've made several pretty big goals for myself over the next 5 years and a little regretfully, I can't share them with you here - yet. But there are some pretty big tasks I have to accomplish myself to make them a reality so that is what 2011 will be for me - working towards reaching those 5 year goals. Over the next few weeks I'll really have to give myself a dose of my own medicine and think about the sacrifices I need to make now to get me from point A (now) to point B (then).

Prayers and advice welcome over the next couple weeks while I really do some hard self examination and build a game plan.

Love,
B

Randomness.

First off, I want some comments telling me what you fabulous people are up to for Labor Day Weekend….traveling? Staying put? Relaxing? Grilling out? With friends? Family? Tell me the deets. I love holidays and hearing how people spend them.

My plans are still working their way slooowly into place so I don’t have too much to share on my front yet. I’ll tell you what I do know. I will be spending the holiday with friends but sadly, not with any family members. Jess and I are headed on a road trip, our first in I can’t even remember how long. Too long. The plan is to head to Atlanta and meet up with some GA friends up that way for a night, maybe two? Exact details are ALL TBD. You know how hard a lack of plan is for me – I’m an itinerary kind of deal. Hazard of planning travel for work regularly? Perhaps.

Can I share something else sad on the organizational topic? I actually stooped so low as to make myself a chore list this week. I know. Shock. Horror. Patheticness. The list could continue from there. But it seems that after a weekend away (on the road) you have to have a plan to get caught up on the things you would have done over the weekend, if you’d had a weekend. Last weekend was Nashville, this weekend is Atlanta. So this girl had to get a plan or her house was going to be a hot mess. But still, I can’t believe I resorted to a chore list…I use to shake my fist behind my mom’s back about those growing up. She posted one in my bathroom while I was in HIGH SCHOOL. Embarrassing, right? : ] Good thing I survived the humiliation so that I can share with you all about it now – it was touch n go for a while there.

I like to occasionally post fashion related thoughts (or statements). So on that note, has anyone been to see Lauren Conrad’s collection at Kohl’s? I’m not a big Kohl’s person myself but they’ve recently been carrying Vera Wang’s line and well as LC’s – both of which have some cute and somewhat reasonably priced items. I invested in a LC by Lauren Conrad dress last night that I adore.

Thoughts?

Ok I promise that images of the home improvements are coming soon!

Love ya,

B
