So I never thought I'd be excited to be awake and somewhere by 7am on a Saturday but I am for this...

Some of my favorite Tampa residents & some great former Bucs will be there: Coach Tony, Warrick Dunn, & Derrick Brooks. And plenty more but it would take too long to name them and I'm headed to lunch.

Just wanted to share my excitement for this event.

Missy Higgins.

So I adore Missy Higgins and own her CD, but I'm sharing this song because I think the lyrics are really good. And if you've never heard her this will give you a little taste of her.

Another week...

Watching CSI Miami ( a good one ) and prepping for this week, which for me starts at 3am because I have Jordy Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday this week.  Is it just me or does it seem like laundry is never ending and by the time you finish dusting it's already collecting again?  I think the laundry is made worse by my 2 jobs and working out - 3 outfits a day makes for a lot by itself but throw in a social event here and there and I produce as much laundry as a family of 5.  Alright, back to work.

I miss my Ruthie.

I pulled up my photobooth for something earlier today and found a few old pics from one of my trips home with my roomie (Jess - in the middle) and realized how much I miss my Ruthie this week.  She is the light of my life. : ]

"Dungy Trades Football for Family"

I was frustrated to read that headline on the Examiner.com this morning because the implication that you have to choose between having a career and a family is such a sad misconception. It made me thankful though for All Pro Dad and the speed with which it has grown over the past few years because as my Dad once said "You can have it all". I know Coach Tony never replaced his family with football, so why would he have to reverse that in retirement?

Perhaps what the title failed to articulate well is that the time that once was occupied by his career will now be available for more bonding with his family...an exciting time for him I'm sure. But I still balk at the notion of trading one for the other...I think he proved throughout his career that you can be both a great Dad, and a great Coach.

The league will surely be left with a hole where he once was, but I'm more than happy to welcome him back to Tampa! : ]

2009 promises to be an exciting year in the Christensen household. Make that the Christensen/Breslin household (Love ya Rae and Bres). Here are just a few things we have to look forward too...

With many changes to the Colts staff - some sad, some exciting. I think it will be an interesting year for us in the football realm. I look forward to the great things to come as we remain Indianapolis Colts in 2009!

Dad will still be there and be able to continue is his work with All Pro Dad in the greater Indianapolis area, as well as continue his read through the bible in a year study with some of his collegues.

I'm excited that Momma & I have a new found common bond in that we are both currently working at Crisis Pregnancy Centers. Our rolesare quite different but it has been great to compare and contrast strategies as we fight (though many states away) for the sanctity of human life together. It has blessed me to watch her new found love of counsling and she has already taught me so many things.

My "little Ruthie" will be graduating in May and heading off to a to-be-determined college. I wish I wasn't so far away as those letters are coming in -- but I'm no less anxious about those answers and the upcoming decisions she has then I was about my own. It's hard to believe it's been 5 YEARS since I was making my college decision and that now my baby is almost all grown up.

Ramie will become Dr. Breslin in 2009, which is another huge development I'm anxiously awaiting. As always, I couldn't be prouder of her. My Bresford continues his studies at Duke and even though I will never cheer for them in sports - I'm also really proud of him and excited for his time in seminary. I hope someday I live close enough to be a member of his church. : ]

As for me, 2009 promises to be my most exciting year yet. It's hard to believe that I am nearing the end of my 9th month in Tampa! Time has truely flown by and I'm so blessed to have settle so easily (and quickly) into the my life here. I love this city and right now, I can't imagine myself anywhere else. God has continued to bless my work here and even in the first few weeks of 2009 we are seeing great progress in the Hillsborough County Schools.

I know I'm a true Floridian because this week our temps dropped to 30 and I pulled out my winter coat and uggs. : ] Ahh, life is good.

I've never seen myself as much of a "blogger" but throughout the past year my life has gone through so many exciting (and some not so exciting) seasons of change that I felt like perhaps it was time to find a way to share them. Throughout this transitional time of moving I have tried my best to prioritize maintaining my relationships through phone, e-mail, and of course facebook...but with a full time job, a part-time job, the beach, etc it just seems as though I can never keep everyone up to date. And so, I will blog.

Oh how technological I am becoming.
