I Could Wear That!

Do you ever see fashion trends and think, I could wear that? Not just but maybe sort of pull it off? I've been paying attention to these new crochet sweater trends. That's usually a little too hippy for my simple style but I like the way they're being down played. Below are pictures of 2 of my favorite celebs (a kardash and the Hills LC) sporting crochet sweaters in simple, classic ways...

I found one I loved the other day. It's simple, understated, and it's zips up the back a detail I love on sweaters. And so I put together this outfit for my trip this past weekend including the new crochet sweater I bought (because lets be honest it's way too hot to wear it in Tampa anyway):

Anyone else digging a celeb trend this spring you might actually be able to wear?

Spring into Style.

I'm already obessing with dresses for Spring and Summer. We've pretty much bypassed the whole spring thing here in Tampa and gone straight for seeking out ways to beat the heat. Here's a few looks I love from stars recently featured in People Stylewatch:

Love the sandals with matching belt here. Florals aren't always a great look on me, especially in print that tiny but they work for Gwen with her long lean bod.

I love all things Reese. She's adorible and the way she dresses just makes me love her more. I'm obsessed with nude shoes and with my coloring bold, solid colors is a good look for me. I would wear this outfit exactly how she has if I could (but obviously, not as well).

Yellow is one of my all time favorite clothing colors. I don't wear alot of it but this dress just might change that. I love this dress on her and look how tan her legs are? I will be rushing to my pool to lay out first chance I get. Those shoes aren't me, I would probably go nude on those as well.

Hope you all are having a great weekend as I'm living it up in Indiana. Back soon.

Love,
B

Personal Style.

'Fashion fades, style is eternal' - Yves Saint Laurent

On a lazy Saturday afternoon between workouts and chores I was chatting with my roommate about style. I was sharing with her my surprise when people say they like my 'sense of style', I've never really thought of myself as someone who has one. Stay with me on this - to me you can define your friends style, right? Most people's style can be tied up with a neat bow. One of my sister's is trendy while the other is a bit more ...bohemian? My 'style' if you will, is not really defined. I'm not classic but I'm not trendy. I'm not hippie or bohemian or edgy.

I chalk this up to the fact that I don't dress for style - I wear what I like. I wear what works for me (and sometimes things I love that I later realize don't actually look good on me at all). I think the most important factors to anyones personal style are that they know how to dress their body, and how to incorporate their personality into their wardrobe.

When I think of the people who's style I most admire, they are people who can look put together but effortless in one outfit. Probably my favorite example of this is Lauren Conrad (yes, of the Hills). I love her, always have. But as she's developed herself as both a fashion designer and a brand in and of herself, she has that perfect blend of natural style and a hint of personality. Here's a few examples:

Fall Hit List.

If you prefer to be freakishly organized about all things then you may have a list of items that you want to buy this fall. For those of us in extremely warm climates - this is a good way to pretend like fall is coming soon even though it will more than likely not cool off enough to wear long sleeves til January.

So I thought I'd share with you all MY fall hit list (the ones I've bought and the ones I haven't)...

Photo.

Fun Scarves. I've bought one so far - at Old Navy. I also bought a fun one in Chinatown while I was in New York City in May. There were tons of great scarves in Chinatown - and actually, Thomas bought me two while he was in NYC the week before me what I will be wearing this fall as well. I'd like a few brightly colored ones to add to the rotation so I'll be keeping my eye out for good deals on them as we enter true fall shopping season.

Photo.

Comfy Gray. I love gray - because combined with the right accessories it's the perfect 'backdrop', if you will. I found one I loved at Old Navy actually (rare for me, but I had a coupon). I've also seen a few from Caslon I love, but they're a little pricier - maybe later in the season? Gray with jeans and fun accessories is one of my favorite looks, though.

Navy Purse. I've been wanting to a navy purse for a while, but I haven't been able to find one I love within my budget. This Steven by Steve Madden bag has been at Nordstrom Rack this summer and I have been stalking it, regularly (yes, stalking). A few weeks ago it was the only one left but still not on sale and I talked myself into waiting it out. When I got a postcard in the mail about the end of summer sale for Nordie Rack - I determined if this bag was still there and on sale it would my my birthday present to myself. For 60% savings - this bag came home with my last Tuesday on lunch. This is not a great pic - so watch for some after my Indy trip because I plan to carry this then. But the color is called Blueberry. Love it.

Photo.

Riding Boots. I love the look of riding boots. The ones pictured above are by Coach and if you follow the link you can find that exact pair or several cheaper versions. After my birthday if I have money left over from my grill, I'm totally splurging on some riding boots. Otherwise, I guess I'll have to save up in the clothing catagory of my budget for a while. I consider these a great investment piece - you can dress them up or down in so many ways.

Photo.

Navy Fedora. I want a navy fedora to pair with a comfy great sweater and my new bag. Seriously, I think they're so cute and fun.

So there you have it - my fall hit list. What's on yours?

Looks I Love #9.

If I were a rich women this prada trench would be mine. Love the over-the-knee leather boots in combo. Plus I admit to wanting to look pretty much exactly like Kim K anyway. Love, B

On the Road, Again.

It’s almost time to get back on the road again! 21 days until the beginning of my fall travels. I have 7 flights planned before the end of the year right now, and at least 2 more too nail down. You know I like to be on the go and stay busy but traveling also means I have to be that much more on top of my home life, so I don’t fall too far behind. I need to get myself organized! Ack.

Here’s what I’ve been trying to think through during this month off from travels – how to best keep up my diet and exercise routine when I have to take it on the road! I love what I do but it’s also exhausting flying into a city, setting up, and then waking at 4am to work all day and fly back. To keep up my the healthy pace I’ve been in the past few months I have to be able to find a balance and keep up my exercise on my whirlwind work trips.

Lucky for me, I have a Kacy Dule workout book on the way! I’m hoping she’s going to be the answer to my workout in my hotel room blues! She might be just the kick in the pants I’ll need to workout after set up and still crawl into bed early before the big event day.

So that leaves the eating…

I know several of my readers are also travelers so I’m open to any and all suggestions of good things to bring in case the team dinner is a little out of league (or caloric allowance). So I’m taking all suggestions!

So my Diane Von Furstenberg luggage is about to bite the dust after only a few shorts years. It’s time to invest in some new luggage. I’m leaning towards trying the hardcase suitcases this time to see if I can make them last a little longer. I honestly don’t understand what they do to my bags while they’re transporting them that causes them to come back each trip a little more battered. Help! Anyone bought the hardcase suitcases recently and want to give me some insight?

Also time to start thinking of some cute airport outfits (since I keep meeting the nicest people when I travel) and I did a bit of googling. This photo-montag done found here features 4 outfits, all of which I would wear.

I really want a pair of 'riding boots' this fall. Is that insane considering I live in Florida? I hate cold weather but I love fall/winter clothes and layering. Guess it's a good thing I have 7-10 trips up north to take this year. May even be able to justify a new coat! Ah.

Love,
B

These are a few of my fav. things: Condo Addition.

Happy Valentines Day sweethearts! Hope it's been delightfully special. : ]

Ok, so to give you all a small idea of my decorating style, I wanted to share a few of my favorite things in the condo thus far. Also this entry doubles as a deals and steals feature since nothing you will see pictures cost over 30 bucks...and most of them cost less than 10! : ] Yeah yeah, pat me on the back later...here ya go:

I found this vase for...get this, 2.99! Love it. I just got it so it has no flowers yet. But ya know, it's in my bathroom anyway.

Isn't this cute? 5 bucks. Also in my bathroom (the master).

This striped shower curtain was a cheap find at HomeGoods. 12.99 I think? But I love it. Orange is the accent color in the that bathroom. ; ]

I love baths! So this catty was found at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Marked down from 70.00 to 19.99 but I had a coupon so it ended up being 14.99. : ] Oh and I had a giftcard.

Lamp on one end of my bed...from target. $29.

A pier one find. The hook was already in my ceiling. 20 bucks, but I had a giftcard.

Diamond branches. Also pier one...less than $1 a piece during the after christmas sale.

I love this vase. It looks like it's a weird color because of my flash. But it's actually the EXACT color of my wall. : ]

I have 2 of these...on on each end of my huge black dresser with vanity mirror. They were a little pricey...20 bucks each. But worth it. Very...me.

Ok so there you have it. : ] Deals and steals from my 3rd floor. May have to show you some on the middle floor after my fab couch arrives Saturday!

Love ya!

Tribute.

I love me some Gossip Girl fashion so, in honor of having watched a Tivo'd episode of the show this morning while I got ready I'm going to show show you a combo of some of my favorite stylish 'it' girls from one of my favorite fashion blog sites...

Blake Lively - 'Serena Vanderwoodsen'

She has mastered looking naturally put together and beautiful all-the-time! Can I please get to that point?!

Jessica Szohr - 'Vanessa Abrams'

I really dig her in the second outfit down. So cute.

Leighton Meester - 'Blaire Waldorf'

She changes up her style. She always has some different stylish look going on. She's my favorite in the show, so I like to follow her 'on the street' style as well.

And since she was this weeks guest star.... Hilary Duff - 'Olivia' on GG. I actually like her style on this site better than I thought I would. She's got some cute looks featured.

Special thanks for Frugal Fashionista's - one of my favorite websites. Thanks for keeping me up on the trends, and helping me get 'their looks' for 'less'.

Love,
B
